Villa Tirta
Three pavilions and a permanent commission by Eko Nugroho, opened in 2023.
Merah Land develops and operates a portfolio of art villas across Bali, grounded in Balinese Indonesian philosophy, sustainable building practice, and a permanent collection of contemporary work.
Each Merah Land villa is a stand-alone building on its own site, conceived as a small private museum that happens to host guests. The interior is furnished by Merah Living, the building is designed by Merah Design, and the work on the walls is represented by Merah Gallery, refreshed annually with the curatorial team.
We work with the surrounding banjar from the first sketch, follow the rhythms of the Balinese calendar, and align water and waste with the local subak. Every property is independently energy-audited and runs on solar plus battery storage.
Short stays from two nights, with a long-stay residency program of one to three months for writers, artists, and collectors who want to live inside the collection.
